Churches

The CU is not a church.

The Bible tells us that getting involved with a local church is so important for our growth as Christians. At church, we are taught from God’s Word, and supported, prayed for and encouraged in our faith by older and wiser Christians. But it’s not just about what you get out of it! Church is also a place to serve God’s people, in practical ways and through prayer. And here at Warwick, we’re so blessed to have so many awesome Bible-believing churches nearby.

‘This all sounds great, but how do I choose one?’ I hear you ask…

Five Steps to Choose a Church

1. Pray. Ask God to guide you throughout your church search.

2. Research. Have a look at the churches on this list and check out their websites / social media pages. You might want to consider:

  • The church’s statement of faith / doctrinal basis
  • A YouTube channel so you can see what a normal service looks like
  • What else happens outside of Sunday gatherings (e.g. prayer meetings, small group Bible studies, seminars, student-specific events, social events etc.)
  • Are there opportunities for you to serve?

3. Chat. Find out more by asking members of the CU about their churches.

4. Visit. The best way to get a feel for a church is to actually go there! The CU will be running a few church searches at the start of the year so look out for those.

5. Commit. This one’s super important – don’t spend ages looking, and don’t overthink your choice either. Once you commit to a church, you can start getting stuck in – and the church can start committing to you, in prayer and in practical support too.

Please do check the websites and social media pages of churches to get the latest information. While we try to keep this page up-to-date, the churches themselves will always have the most accurate information on their events!

Most of us have to catch the bus to get to church, but there are loads you can walk to and some even provide their own transport! Be sure to check the church’s page above to see their recommended travel options, speak to a CU member who goes there, or just plug the address into your favourite mapping software and work it out yourself!
