CU Calendar

Our calendar has the details of all the events the CU runs.
At the moment there’s nothing coming up, but keep an eye out in April to find out what we’ve got planned!

Giving

We are hugely grateful for all the support we are given – in prayer, finance, and your time serving. To keep doing all we do to fulfil our mission and run our evangelistic events, we rely on donations from members, local churches, and friends of the CU. If you’re able to make a donation to the work of the CU, please click below or contact our treasurer for more details.

Another great thing to do is let your family, friends, and home churches know about what we do.

Perhaps you could sign them up for our prayer letter?

Teams

Teams are vital to the running of CU, in order to put on all of our regular events and to make the larger non-regular events happen. We’d encourage you to take a look at the teams and consider where you might be able to best serve the CU. Whilst some teams are suited to people with particular skills, all members are welcome to join any of the teams, and the leaders are always happy to show you the ropes if you’re not sure.

Explore

Hi, I’m Seth and I lead the Explore team.

We exist to give people an extra chance to investigate the Christian faith, particularly after an event has happened. Normally this happens in the form of brunches with speakers, or courses which go through Uncover (Bible studies in a gospel). Of course you don’t have to wait for an event or an Explore course to read Uncover with a friend – get in touch and we can give you a copy! Explore is just as important as our events – maybe more so!

We would love your help with this! Whether it’s signing up to read Uncover with someone after an event or leading a Bible study at an Explore course, we need all the help we can get!

To get involved, send me an email or find one of us. Thanks.

International Team

Hi, I’m Talitha and I lead the International team.

International café is a place where people from all nations can have an open discussion about the Bible together alongside a meal. Everyone is welcome!

We would love to have you on our team! You can get involved with cooking, shopping, setting up and down, being part of discussion groups, giving talks and praying. It is a privilege to be part of God’s work on campus and see so many people get to know Jesus and decide to follow Him.

If you want to get involved, talk to one of us at the main meeting or email us. Thank you!

Food Team

Hi, we’re Ben and Gracy and we lead the food team.

This involves coordinating all the food for outreach events that the CU put on, as having free food is a great way to get people into events. This includes lunchbars, which consist of a talk on a relevant issue with a question and answer session, as well as free lunch.
The food team helps prepare the food- it’s an amazing way to serve and get to know others in the CU!

We’d love for you to join the team, if you are interested talk to one of us at the main meeting or join the Whatsapp group!

Hot Choc

Hi, we’re Ceaser, Charlie, Chloe and Jonas and we lead the Hot Choc team.

If you’re passionate about extending God’s love to people on campus (and look good in yellow), Hot Choc is a great opportunity: we serve free biscuits and hot chocolate to students outside of POP every Wednesday. Meet us at 22:30 to pray, worship and just chat – at 23:45 we head out! We finish late (about 3am) but there’s no pressure to stay to the end or to come every week!

For more info, speak to one of us at the main meeting or join the Whatsapp group. We’re excited to meet you!

Teams aren't the whole story!

Lots of jobs – especially flyering – are for everyone in the CU, not just people who have signed up for teams! Always keep an eye out for ways you can lend a hand. Announcements are typically made in the Main Meeting, on the Facebook group or in the weekly emails.

Tech

Hi, we are Isaac and Jonathan, and we head up the Tech Team!

Our main weekly meetings wouldn’t be the same without live music performed by the CU’s many talented musicians while we worship.

In addition to setting up/down for the band, tech breaks down into 2 roles:
Sound: You are helping the musicians to sound how they want to. This involves running the sound desk (i.e. changing volume levels) and checking everything is making the right noises!
Visuals: You are changing slides for the music and ensuring that the visuals are correct to support both the musicians and the speakers.

You don’t need to know everything going in, the only requirement is a willingness to serve! This team takes up a lot of time on Wednesday afternoons, so the more of us we have on the rota, the less of a regular burden it is on a few people. Any help is greatly appreciated!

To get involved or find out more, join the Whatsapp group or just come and say hello at the main meeting

Music

Hi, I’m David and I’m the music coordinator for the CU. I lead the music team for the main meeting and am involved in planning music themed evangelistic events such as barbacoustic.

As a CU we are passionate about singing, how through it we can learn more of and be drawn closer to God while being united together in mission to go and proclaim Jesus on campus.

We’re always looking for new musicians to join the music team, so if you sing or play an instrument, we’d love for you to get involved. You don’t need any previous experience of playing in a band, or to be an incredibly talented musician, just someone who is passionate about worship.

If you’d like to get involved, send me an email or say hi to me at the main meeting!

We maintain a Spotify profile with several playlists. If you have any suggestions, feel free to email David.

Publicity Team

Hi, I’m Fimi, and I have the pleasure of serving as Publicity Coordinator this year!

Publicity is key to all that we do as a CU, and entails a variety of creative roles! From designing flyers, editing videos, photographing events, manning interactive stations across campus, and everything in between. It’s the responsibility of the whole of the CU to publicise its events and invite people along, but the Publicity team handles the physical and digital publicity.

Whether you’re a creative mastermind, a newbie photographer or simply have a passion for making the Good News of Jesus known, we’d love to have you on the team! Join our Facebook group, or email us to find out more!

Webmasters

Hello World! We’re Oliver and Josh and we lead the web team.

The Webmasters are responsible for managing the CU email addresses and accounts, keeping the website running and a number of other jobs. Some of the work is small, regular tasks, whereas other times we could be doing a complete overhaul of the website.

Some tasks, like server administration, are better suited to those with web experience, but not everyone requires these technical skills (the website is done with a GUI that does not require technical experience). We need people with a keen eye for detail to keep the website looking good and up-to-date with the latest information. Please get in touch if you’re interested in helping the web team.
